Java - History Present and Future History Java or should I say "Oak" as it was originally called. The names really do not define  the utility of the most powerful language that stormed the world of computer technology like never before. The Java as we  know today was started as a project in 1991 , known as Biosphere2 . For next four years , it was known as Oak , and many efforts and enhancements showed the way for first official release of Java in 1995. The history was to be redefined using Java. Using C and C++ as the base, Java went straight into developer's favorite Coffee Mug with lots of libraries and inbuilt functions that made the work so easy. Now it was easy to validate a email address without thinking how to code for it. Studying the basics of C / C++ and a week in java made a java professional. The object oriented programing which was enforced by C++ was extensively used by Java. Java and JDK : Java developement Kit was launched in year 1996 , and it was an instant hit. The basic reason was learning to Java would gurantee less effort in developement. The vast library bridged the gap , and reduced the time to launch the project.   One would know the popularity of JDK which had 2 Million downloads in 2 years , at a time when computer was not as popular as now. An era which was then ruled by Windows 1995 , and colorful screens and upcoming Windows 98. The next Section would discuss the various Java Versions , followed by JDK , history of frameworks , future of Java .
